Eight years of George Bush (building on eight years of Ronald Reagan) lives on and will do so for many years to come. Compassion was simply beaten out of U.S. democracy -- day after day, week after week, year after year reason was degraded, community destroyed, truth and genuine discourse ridiculed and crushed"
   This is sad but true.
   And I'm sorry to see that this disease has spread to Canada. This is the legacy of Lee Atwater.

2. #2    A Canadian has finally noticed! Unfortunately most Canadians pay little or no attention to US politics, or their own. The titles of their parties are usually the opposite of their philosophies. British Columbia is ruled by the Liberal Party, whose manifesto is more in line with the red state republicans. The National Liberals' leader is a former professor who taught at the Kennedy school, so he is more like a conservative democrat. The New Democrat Party, isn't new, only the name is, and Bloc is a the French separatist party, like Perry of Texas. The Canadian Conservatives, they conserve corporate interests.
   The same steaming content only different piles in a different country.
