U.S. Fears Iraqis Will Not Keep Up Rebuilt Projects

In its largest reconstruction effort since the Marshall Plan, the United States government has spent $53 billion for relief and reconstruction in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, building tens of thousands of hospitals, water treatment plants, electricity substations, schools and bridges. But there are growing concerns among American officials that Iraq will not be able to adequately maintain the facilities once the Americans have left, potentially wasting hundreds of millions of dollars and jeopardizing Iraq’s ability to provide basic services to its people.......And whether or not the American-built health centers and power plants are ever used as intended, the American companies that won the lion’s share of rebuilding contracts from the federal government have been paid.

  1. #1    “The building is fairly good and the Americans have provided the hospital with a variety of high-tech medical devices, but they did not pay attention to the training of doctors in how to use them,”
This is that dumbing down of America coming home to roost. Headstrong dimwits that have a "Brilliant Idea", like invading Iraq and taking their Oil, make detailed plans with little consultation outside their amen corner (because they can't stand criticism, especially if it's true), then impliment those plans against all sound advice and when the flaws start to show, it's too late to do it right and the bas+ards that created this clusterfu(k have moved on with their golden parachutes intact. It's happened in Business, it's happened in Government, here it is in our foreign policy.

  2. #2    I posted this article to show the kind of propaganda that gets into mainstream news. Somewhere in the intersection of corruption and arrogance lives the belief that only Americans can be trained to operate these complex infrastructure facilities.

Had the purpose of these investments been to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure and make it a modern functional country, we wouldn't be in this position. The purpose of these projects was for Bush-Cheney to feed their cronies with taxpayers' money....."And whether or not the American-built health centers and power plants are ever used as intended, the American companies that won the lion’s share of rebuilding contracts from the federal gove...

  4. #4    OmG, more racism about how brown people can't do anything for themselves. And more self talk by the fascist sock puppets. I keep imagining them like those fandango commercials, but htey have to borrow each other's hitler mustache in each scene. Funny as hell. In my head...in reality their repartee is so fucking weak.
