The ongoing absolutism in Congress in trying to prevent women--or at least poor women--from obtaining abortions is one of the more shameful spectacles in America. The sanctimonious Blue Dog Democrats and the Republicans, who almost unanimously opposed any right to abortion, present two basic arguments. One is that abortion is murder, and therefore must be illegal, or, in more nuanced form, they say that they or their constituents oppose abortion and therefore it is wrong to have their tax money paying for the procedure. Of course, for most of those who argue that abortion is murder, there is a towering hypocrisy in the fact that with rare exceptions, those who argue this view also support capital punishment, which is also murder.

  1. #1    Why, back when Republicans (and blue dongs) controlled both Houses of Congress, the White House, and 5 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices, was there no legislative action restricting/banning abortion? Why am I asking this question and not the anti-free choice mob? They had a window in which to fix this problem in a way favorable to them, but instead spent all their time cutting taxes for the rich, starting wars, blowing the budget, and dithering around giving out money to the oil companies, but no action on abortion. Clearly they need to keep the issue alive, more than they need to keep any fetuses alive.

  2. #2    @#1 - Neither party wants to be the winner on abortion, because they can raise much more money by campaigning against the status quo. Abortion has been a non-issue for the Dimocraps for years and they HATED that.

    Obama-care is brilliant - utterly evil but brilliant. It not only earns the Dimocraps the regular kickbacks from the health mafia for the trillion dollar private tax on working and retired Americans, but it also earns the Dimocraps additional revenue from the victims of Obama-care who will send in their hard earned fives and tens to try and overturn the Dimocraps' own abortion ban.

    The Dimocraps are laughing all the way to the bank.
