  2. #2    The number that I haven't seen yet is How many abortions are paid for with insurance yearly now? Back in the 80s, when I was invlolved with Clinic defense, many if not all of the patients seemed to be paying out of pocket or getting assistance, usually from the Clinic and it's donor orgs. I wasn't privy to all the details, but from what I saw, many of the women coming in were poor, uninsured and the councilors often were scrambling to help them come up with money.
    Then again, the Clinics that my partner and I rallyed for were not-for-profit, often "Feminist Collective" orgs in nature and it might be that that drew an unrepresentative slice.
    Not that that makes this Stupik ammendment OK, just trying to assess the impact.
