"On Friday night, for example, according to several news reports, representatives of the USCCB met with House Democratic Leadership to demand that language be included or an amendment to the House health care reform bill be passed effectively banning private insurance companies from covering abortion care. And apparently as a result of these meetings, the House leadership effectively caved to these demands. ... This amendment robs women of the right to private insurance coverage of abortion care even with their own money paying the premiums."

In cases I have read of, this campaign sometimes included passing a second collection plate for blatantly political purposes. How is it that the catholic church (and many others) retain tax-exempt status, when they engage in politicking in church? The catholic church is the second largest property owner in Chicago, after the city itself. Instead of leasing out the parking meters, perhaps our local Dear Leader should have considered calling in property taxes on churches which violate the terms of tax exemption.
(Yeah, I know. The IRS would have to speak first. Funny that the Feds were enthusiastic enough in investigating when it came to a liberal episcopal church holding a debate or discussion on war.)
phuck 'em
Tax the holy bastards to death. Tax their property (and, boy! do they have property), tax their income, every fricking dime that gets in the collection basket. Tax their investments and dividends. Tax them, tax them, tax them until they are taxed out of extinction.
