Thank Congress, it Took 'Courage' to Pass Health Care Bill by AFL-CIO

Last night, 220 members of Congress showed they’re on the side of working families, not big insurance companies. They’ve earned our thanks for keeping their promises and passing landmark health care reform. Our friends at Health Care for America Now (HCAN) have set up an easy tool where you can contact your member of Congress and thank him or her for voting “Yes” on H.R. 3962. We demanded this change with our votes and our voices, and House members stepped up to make it a reality

  1. #1    Took a lot of bribes from the Insurance industry for Congress to force all americans to buy their 'products' at gunpoint.

  2. #2    Whatever, ep. Here's how the big unions felt about it. Frankly, Insurance doesn't want any change in the status quo; by definition, it's a predictable environment in which they are thriving. So if there was any bribing done, it was in the opposite direction, toward defeating the bill. I sense that there was a great design to it that would allow Dems to vote their conscience or with their constituency for survival purposes. The passage was secured, allowing the bill to go forward -- and that's what counted.

  3. #3    "It took real courage to stand up to the disinformation and big bankrolls of the insurance companies, and [x] members of the House showed that courage, voting to help millions of people get the affordable health coverage they deserve. They need to hear from you, so let them know they did the right thing."

That won't be necessary. The health insurance industry will be thanking them enough.

  4. #4    This email was impetus for me to have AFL-CIO drop me from their mailing list. This bill is a lousy starting point for going to Conference.

  5. #5    It took several hundred million dollars in legalized bribes for Congress to vote this trillion dollar handout to the health mafia, paid for by working families.

    Negative Buzz.

As for the how the big unions felt ... we're more and more starting to see the big union bosses aligned with the corporations and the big unions' members starting to try to retake control of the big unions.

  6. #6    You might disagree with the viewpoint but there's no reason to label it "wrong news". It's simply a statement concerning the House bill passage made by the AFL-CIO. There's a lot of paranoia around here -- understandable in these post neo-con days. But try to cast off your fears and suspicions when it comes to our side, the liberal side of this argument -- the one that will ultimately be best for US, wethepeople, America.

  7. #7    It is wrong news because it says it took "courage" to pass the bill. It did not. They took bribes and the easy way out.

To call what the House did "courage" is an insult to every one of those billions of people - from soldiers to suffragettes to single mothers - who really have exhibited courage.

  8. #8    These accusations of bribes and such without any factual proof are not limited to the crazy righties and Repugs, evidently. Where's your facts? Cite reputable sources. Don't have any? Thought so. Then STFU.

  11. #11    And now students, please observe specimen #10 - a typical case of fauxnewsitis.

The disease causes a regression of brain development to a pre-neanderthal state. It affects approximately 0.2% of people world wide, mostly in the poorer regions of the United States. It is believed to arise from prolonged exposure to trailer home mold spores when combined with the rat poison present in some cheap cocaine blends.

The primary symptom is of course cognitive failure, as exemplified here by the inability to distinguish fascism from communism. Notice also the pornographic homo-erotic mania, a classic symptom of fauxnewsitis.

  12. #12    So what's yer point dumbass? Communism, Socialism, Marxist-Leninism.... All the same, it ain’t a REPUBLIC anymore! According to your presumptuous, anecdotal, synopsis of my “so-called” medical condition... “fauxnewsitis”, I am the one who is need of a doctor?

You damn sheople are so so gullable! You would beat me down all day long but could care less about the country you so admently “swear by god” to love. You prove it day in and day out by staring aimlessly into the abyss like the herded cattle you are... and doing nothing.

Who has the real brain tumor? Look in the mirror my lil friend. Your lack of empathy in regard the direction this country has taken is astounding. ...

  14. #14    Good for you, Mike. Faux uses the technique of basing its 'news' on opinion, usually in-house opinion. No facts are necessary. Just say it over and over, louder and louder. We've known that for a decade or so -- now the President has acknowledged it. We are starting to stamp out this bogus form of news-tainment... but not by force. By shining the light on it.
