Little Joe by William Rivers Pitt

The mess he helped create on the economic front is only the tip of the iceberg. He supported the Bush administration's call for offshore oil drilling despite the damage such a program would do to the environment and tourism. He opposed lifting the ruinous Bush administration tax cuts. He supports the privatization of Social Security. He voted to confirm, and later publicly praised, former Bush administration Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. He defended Pastor John Hagee, who called Catholicism "The Great Whore" and said Hitler was a Hunter sent by God to get the Jews to Israel, and later compared Hagee to Moses when he spoke at Hagee's Washington-Israel summit last July. He sponsored the Senate version of the Iraq War Resolution, and supported that catastrophic conflict all the way down the line. The list goes on, and on, and on, and on. Enough of this clown. He should be stripped of his Senate chairmanship and sent across the aisle to his boon companions on the right.

  1. #1    As the article states:

Why this man is tolerated by the Democratic caucus in the Senate is an enduring mystery, frankly, and not just because Lieberman is a publicity-hogging fraud, although that is most definitely the case. All he lacks is a big red nose, big red floppy shoes and big red tufts of hair sticking up from his head to complete his image as a clown, but anyone familiar with his record over the last several years doesn't need the props to complete the picture. He made Dick Cheney look like Socrates in the 2000 vice presidential debate. He ran one of the most ridiculous presidential campaigns in modern political history in 2004, failing to win a single primary and eventually fin...

  3. #3    Here is something more that can be done:

Petition to: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Majority Whip Dick Durbin (http://www.democrats.com/joe-must-go)

    Message:
Any Senator who filibusters the public option does not deserve a chairmanship and should be removed from his or her post.

There is a space to tell Sen. LIEberman what you REALLY think! Here's what I wrote:

If Senator LIEberman joins the filibuster of the public option, he should be kicked out of the Democratic Caucus, lose the honor of having the term Democratic before his "Independent" label, as well as lose his chairmanship. He is a Republican. He spoke at the Republican National Convention. He campaigned against the Democratic Party's candidate, Sen. Barack Obama. What MORE does he have to do to lose the honor of joining the Democratic caucus, using the term "Democratic" as part of his political label, and serving in the position of a DEMOCRATIC Chair, SPIT IN YOUR FACES on national television?

    JOE LIE-BERMAN MUST GO!

  4. #4    Joe represents the people of Connecticut who elected him. Hartford, center of insurance, is his bailiwick. He's just doing the job he's supposed to. Now, if you don't like monied interests controlling everything, better see about the Constitution, written by the richest for the richest.

  5. #5    The failure of the Democratic leadership to do anything to thwart him is tantamount to tolerance, if not approval, of his actions. This is just one more reason for progressives to get the hell out of the party.

  6. #6    Progressives are intimidated too easily. We took down Lieberman in the primary and then, when we were defeated in the election, we gave up on the idea that we could challenge sitting Dems. That was the wrong reaction. The right reaction was to recognize that by defeating Lieberman in the primary, we put a scare into the Democratic Party establishment and that WE NEED TO DO A LOT MORE OF THAT!!
