Mike, Aristotle breaks down philosophy into branches like metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics..and logic. Look it up. So you're wrong there. My philosophy professor specified to me the the award was specifically for my work in logic, so you're wrong there, too. Logic is only one branch, and it is better to go to a higher level of being there and perceiving, in order to know. "Cogito ergo sum" (I think therefore I am) sounded like a cool thing in Descartes time, but it was challenged by the existentialists, as being inverted -- you ARE, first, then you think. (Also found in the Kabbalistic Tree of Life -- Beingness is on the Top of the Tree) That's what I meant concerning "being there and perceiving". Don't tangle with a award-winning philosopher dude -- you're bound to lose because you're in over your head ;-)

Unfortunately, most of the 50 will probably stop short of voting against the ultimate bill without a public option. I wish we could have HR 676 but with spineless leaders who will not spell the benefits out to the American public then there is no hope.

Rather, it is the excuse Democrats fraudulently invoke, using what I called the Rotating Villain tactic (it's now Durbin's turn), to refuse to pass what they claim they support but are politically afraid to pass, or which they actually oppose (sorry, we'd so love to do this, but gosh darn it, we just can't get 60 votes). If only 50 votes were required, they'd just find ways to ensure they lacked 50. Both of those are merely theories insusceptible to conclusive proof, but if I had the power to create the most compelling evidence for those theories that I could dream up, it would be hard to surpass what Democrats are doing now with regard to the public option. They're actually whipping against the public option. Could this sham be any more transparent?

UPDATE: One related point: when I was on Morning Joe several weeks ago, I argued this point -- why aren't Democrats including the public option in the reconciliation package given that they have the 50 votes in favor of the public option -- and, in response, Chuck Todd recited White House spin and DC conventional wisdom (needless to say) by insisting that they do not have the votes to pass the public option. If that's true -- if they lack the votes to pass the public option through reconciliation? -- why is Dick Durbin now whipping against it, telling Senators -- in his own words -- "You just have to swallow hard' and say that putting an amendment on this is either going to stop it or slow it down, and we just can’t let it happen"?

No discussion of the public option is complete without noting how much the private health insurance industry despises it; the last thing they want, of course, is the beginning of real competition and choice.

[Note: This is the real point isn't it? How to pretend to the public that you are for something when you are really against it.]

Guess what suckers, it isn't going to be framed that way, they're going to frame it the way that is strongest for their side - the Republicans don't take dives - they're going to frame it as "I want to repeal the mandate". Actually I received the Philosophy award due to my work in logic at graduation (for achievements well beyond A student). You've taken on the Republican/conservative frame used to scare Democratic/liberals into not voting for this bill, in reference to the thing about suicide you are parroting. [Maybe they are copying you, in all fairness.] But, getting back to philosophy, my philosophy professor used to say that there is a certain point at which basic assumptions are at odds and it's time to put on your hat and shuffle off..which is what I have to do with such ideologues as you, from time to time.

Swanson shows Pelosi's remarks when questioned by Maddow as to her stance on the impeachment of Bush:

Just because I say it's off doesn't mean if the evidence is there that something wouldn't go forward. It's not a question of not knowing where the culpability is, it's what you can demonstrate and what you can prove. But I do think that those who had a hand in perpetrating not just going to war but misrepresentations to the American people - . Every piece of evidence that we have points to the fact that there was no reason in terms of weapons of mass destruction to go into Iraq…. It's one of the great tragedies.

So it is. And truly tragic as well is to brazenness of it. Pelosi's poodle, John Conyers, who backed off impeachment at her command, offered a wide and varying and self-contradictory list of excuses why, but never present among those excuses was any claim of lacking evidence. Conyers' committee staff spent most of the relevant years publishing books documenting the evidence. His excuses were about electoral campaigns and the corporate media and the likelihood of winning conviction in the Senate.

The level of mendacity in Pelosi's remarks above, her dedication to obeying the president (articulated just prior to what I've quoted), and her allegiance to the war machine: this is what we are up against. We will not defeat it without a massive public movement. We will not generate a massive public movement if we are afraid of raising the issue, pressing our demands forward, naming names, and rewarding and punishing elected officials as merited. This is a life and death struggle, brothers and sisters, and it's not going to be won through fear, stealth, or timidity.

Besides Anthony Quinn, he was probably the most famous and successful Mexican born actor in Hollywood history. Just because he also did hundreds of television shows is no excuse to ignore him.

If there were $100 billion in Medicare fraud, and if Obama thought he had a way to crack down on it, he could have done so already. He's had the Justice Department and Health Department and FBI working for him for more than a year already, plus complete control of both houses of Congress.

Obama's lie is just a convenient way of enacting his massive Medicare cut disguised as health care reform. Roughly half of the trillion dollars for the health mafia comes from Medicare cuts. The other half is stolen from working Americans using the Individual Mandate and the tax on union health plans.

The song opens with the natural triad and was probably naturally intoned in the key of C (my theory about the key) rather than the current Bb, which is already quite high for all but sopranos and tenors. Mac users hear this chord when they start up their computer in OS X. Being the historic "natural triad", covering the first six natural harmonics (ratios 1:2:3:4:5:6)it actually should be easily done, but in our era of non-natural equal temperament (where none of those ratios are exist except 1:2, the octave)we don't have that organic reference benefit. (this is the area in which I'm doing my thesis for Music Psychology.)

The house bill included a public option, the Senate did not, and apparently there are not 51 Democratic Senators who will support it.
The problem is purely with the Senate. When the country was started in 1787, 26 Senators represented about 800,000 males. That was one senator for every 30,000 people. Now we have a hundred Senators for 300 million people. Instead of one senator representing 30,000 people, one senator now represents 3 million people. This is 100 times less Democratic than when the government began. We need to elect not 2 Senators, but 20 Senators from each state. That would at least restore some of the democracy that has been lost since this country began. It would also allow Senators to really represent a cross section of the populace, not just a cross section of the richest 1 percent.

The facts are that Obama-care is anti-women, anti-union, and anti-old-folks. It's much worse than the awful system we have now. Obama-care steals a trillion dollars for the health mafia from working and retired Americans. Obama-care is a DLC Dimocrap wet dream, and simultaneously a Dimocrap Party Mass Suicide Pact.

I thought she should have been included. She did 13 theatrical films, 8 of which she starred in. Her leading men included Jeff Bridges (twice), Charles Grodin, Kirk Douglas, Burt Reynolds, Chevy Chase, Robert Duvall, and Richard Gere. She did 19 made-for-T.V. movies, 18 of which she starred in. She also starred in two television series.

One can also make the case that Gene Barry should certainly have been remembered. He appeared in 18 theatrical films in the 1950's and 60's, starring in 15 of them, including the classics "War of the Worlds" and "Thunder Road". He also starred in 5 television series from the 50's through the 90's. also he was the first actor to star in a hit Broadway Play about a Homosexual love affair, "La Cage Aux Folles (although he was not gay)."

On the other hand, Michael Jackson was only in 4 theatrically released films, only two of which he starred in "The Wiz" and "This is it" (released posthumously). A musical superstar obviously, but if we remember him as a film star, we have to include Farrah and Gene.
